On behalf of the entire Ashworth University faculty and staff, I want to once again congratulate each and every one of you for your outstanding achievements. As you know, the August 4th, 2007 graduation ceremony was our very first, which gives this event a particularly special significance in my mind and will forever distinguish the Class of 2007 as a unique legacy. As someone with an international background, I truly appreciated meeting students from all over the world who have worked so hard and made difficult sacrifices to further their education.
We are a University that prides itself on our diversity and ability to meet the educational needs of all students, regardless of their background, therefore I took great pride in listening to our graduates share their experiences, challenges, and accomplishments with each other and our staff. It was inspiring to hear how many of our students managed to balance busy professional and family lives, while continuing to pursue their educational goals.
In closing, I want to wish all of you the best in life and encourage you to continue chasing your personal, educational, and professional dreams. Your achievements have inspired us all. I can say with conviction that we collectively built a stronger Ashworth University community that day. The journey is just beginning. We hope to see you all in the future!

As I watched the graduation pictures, tears started rolling down my eyes, wishing it was my turn to be a part of it. Attaining a good education is definitely a matter of pride.

With Ashworth being a self paced university, after the graduation date is set,how is it determined who will graduate on that day?

I am almost finished I have my last end of semester exam and then I am done…I can’t believe it. I feel like I have accomplished alot with this program even going through trials in the process. Is there an extra fee to be able to come there to actually graduate and receive my diploma?

It is so wonderful to find out that you have started a graduation ceremony. This is something that I wanted to bring up, but after logging in, I was able to see your first ceremony. It is every student’s dream to have one after successfully completing their studies.

Good question. As we are a self-paced university, we will have people completing their program studies at different times. Therefore, we will likely “group” people who have completed their programs within a given time frame. For example, and this is simply a hypothetical example, we could group students that graduated in the months between January and March into one ceremony—group students that graduated between April and July into another ceremony, etc…
We’ll definitely let you know when these future plans become more definitive.

This is the first time I’ve looked through and read some of these comments about the graduation ceremonies. I’m extremely happy to find that you have started this. I have wanted to attend an online school since my freshmen year and enrolled in August, before the year I would have been a junior in high school. A graduation ceremony was the only thing that I figured I would be missing. I have to admit I was a little worried and disappointed that I would miss it, but figured it came with the territory of schooling online. You can only imagine the joy I felt when reading the president’s speech, which was wonderful, and the students comments, which were very thoughtful. The only thing it left me wondering about was if there was an extra fee to go to Goregia and attend a graduation ceremony. I was also wondering if there were any kind of charges parents or friends would have to pay besides for their own trip down, assuming that isn’t covered by the schhol.

I would like to say as one of the graduates of Class 2007, the graduation ceremony was, quote ” the icing on the cake” for me. Everyone was wonderful and very helpful. President Cor Vink was a very nice man and you could tell that he was very proud.

I am very proud to see that AU is finally having graduations…but now I have one concern,does the college provide the cap and gowns for graduation or do students have to purchase them on their own at an extra fee?

I am a bachelor of business administration student and I want to say that I love it! I have gone to two other online schools and AU is by far the best. My GPA is the highest it has ever been. I just wish I would have started a long time ago. The graduation ceremony just puts the icing on the cake. I love AU!!!

I am currently in the Business Management Assocaties program (will be done at the end of this month) and I am considering transfering all credits to the Bachelors program after taking a few months off.
If there is an actual graduation ceremony for students that have recently completed their courses and I participate in the ceremony before enrolling in the Bachelor program would that then prevent me from participating in a ceremony for the Bachelors program when I’ve completed that course?

We’ve been getting several questions related to the next graduation ceremony. We’re currently in the process of determining a date. As soon as we have determined a date, I can guarantee that we’ll be providing everyone with plenty of advanced notice. We’ll discuss all the details on the blogs, the website, in emails, etc. We’re very excited to see your enthusiasm. The graduation ceremony is an event of such importance and value to our entire Ashworth community: faculty and students. Once again, when a date has been determined, you will be the first to know!

I earned a AS Paralegal degree 8/2006 and would have given anything to have had a graduation ceremony. I feel I missed out on something wonderful.

I would like to said that I graduated in 2006 and I am so proud of anyone trying to accomplish their goal and move forward. I am back in school to finish for Creative Art and I’ll be finish 2009. I am so glad that I go too Ashworth University> When I finish I hope to get Cap & gowns for Creative Writing.

Hello! I graduated from Ashworth in April, 2007 with a degree in Psychology. I’m sorry to have missed the ceremonies, but I live in PA and it was too far to travel.
I am currently attending Ashford University in Iowa, and maintaining my 4.0 GPA there, too. Ashworth was the start of it all for me, and at 61, I am living proof that it’s never too late to learn.
Congratulations to all my classmates at Ashworth!

I am looking forward to the August graduation. At the rate that I am going, I should be ready by then. I understand all the fees must be paid in full in order to recieve my degree, does the same apply for graduation
